Cause I am the only child there is.
I'm king of it all, the bell of the ball,
I promise I've always been like this.

Yeah, I know, I've been ridiculously quiet lately, school's getting to me! Sorry for being a selfish tard and not sharing any of my shiny new creations with you. To make up for it, I've got a crap -load of stuff for you that I've been accumulating for a while now! Not as many photos as I'd like, because despite the fact that I got my good laptop back, its deciding not to connect to the internet tonight (?). So anyway...
Dos and I went to a show this weekend! We had a few interesting goes, but in typical Dos fashion, we didn't place in 3 out of 4 classes and placed 1st in the 4th one! We also had quite a bit of success in our flat classes, as we didn't try to bite, kick or leap on anyone else!Craft wise, I've been working on a friend's Christmas (I know, I know its obscenely late) present for a while now and I've finally come up with something I like! Combining a long-armed robot and a kitty doll, I created this little fella, Moto, out of some odd colored pieces of felt I didn't really want!
Isn't he a cutie pie?! I just love the stitching on his face, although it was kind of a disaster seeing as I've never embroidered before! EEKS! I filled him up with stiff poly fill and beads, so his belly's squishy and his arms are bendable!
My second creation (not for my friend's birthday) was something I just decided to make because I had the time, felt and sequin/beads to do it.....*drumroll...
The DOUGHNUT:
Isn't it just darling?! I need to work on my bead-sewing skills, but other than that, I like how it turned out! It really makes me want to eat one, like, so badly I have to restrain myself from licking it! I love the pink frosting!
Finally, I bring you the newest additions to the Right Lead Canter photography division: meaning that Argus's film came! YAY! I also ended up ordering some 120 for Diana, and maybe if Argus is good, he can share some too. I've just got to wait for a sunny day to use it because I accidentally got 100 speed instead of 200 or 400. Oopsies.
Well, that's all I got for you today! Hopefully I can post more this week after I get all my tests done tomorrow!

Expanding Family
Excuse the low-quality computer shot, but I just had to introduce you all to the newest member of our family: The Argus Super 75! Funny story as to how he showed up....While rummaging through the prop rooms looking for china during theater company meeting today I came across a box of old cameras. They weren't just prop cameras, but a few Brownies and this little fella! Our stage director said I could take him home and get him working again if I wanted, and so here he is! He's in pretty good condition, a few scratches and bonks here and there, but it seems to me he's in good shape! A twin-lens reflex, he's got 3 different aperture settings and a pretty sweet distance readout on the lens for focusing. He takes 620 film, which I ordered some of today on Ebay! Its remarkably hard to come by, partially due to the fact that Kodak discontinued it in 1995. Turns out, you can turn 120 into 620 by simply filing down the ends of the film spool, but I figured it'd be smart to stick to the actual 620, at least until I can prove it works! I did end up ordering some 120 also, for Diana of course!
Diana and Argus seem to be hitting it off pretty well...sorry for the rather boring entry today, I'm too paranoid hoping for a snow day and trying to fix my sewing machine to bother. Hah!
Do a snow dance!!!

Powder Snow and Frozen Toes
I'm back! Did ya'll miss me as much as I thought you would? Haha!
Skiing was fantastic, although Vail didn't have as much snow as usual and the Bowels and Blue Sky were closed until our last day. We still managed to have a fantastic time and I checked a few more black diamonds off my to-do list.
I also picked up a couple things while I was out there (aside from the obligatory snowboarder-bashing tee-shirts):
Isnt he sweet?! His name's Sleepy Bunny and he's made by the British plushie company Jellycat! When I saw him sleeping on the shelf, I knew I just had to take him home! Now he sleeps on my bed with my horsey plushie friends! At the same shop, I also picked up this little beauty: Isn't it the cutest? A little mushroom pin cushion with a hidden tape measure! I only want to put my prettiest pins in it!
So I'll venture to say my trip was fairly productive in terms of both shredding it up and picking up some cute things! I also got a ton of great pictures with my Diana! I'll scan them as soon as I get my laptop back (which should be soon, according to the computer people!)
When I went to drop off my film on Saturday, I had an hour to wander around and did a bit of putsing at *sigh* you guessed it, Walmart. Believe it or not, I found this absolutely adorable sewing box! Seeing as I not only didn't have my own, but I also needed something to store all my fat quarters of fabric in. Voila!Isn't that fabric just yummy?! I love it! Now all I have to do is build up my own repertoire of pins and such so I dont have to steal my mother's all the time. More importantly, I finally found the perfect project for me to work on! Its one of those random acts of kindness gigs that I've been thinking of trying called The Toy Society, check it out! More will be posted once I start!

As Good as it Gets
Well folks, tomorrow at the crack o' dawn, I'll be leaving for a 6 day ski extravaganza in Vail, Colorado! Me and the fam will be shredding it up all week, I can't wait! Finally, real double black diamonds and actual powder! Things you can never find on the east coast!
So yep, that means I wont be around until the 2nd, try to go on without me, I know it'll be difficult but you can do it! I still haven't gotten around to taking pictures of all my Christmas presents, but I did snap this picture of a lovely number I picked up today at the drug store:
Yep, this is as good as it gets folks, film from your local pharmacy. Hey, at least I got a free bonus roll. For around 9.99$, I'd say that's pretty sweet. Now how my pictures will turn out however, is a different kettle of fish all together.
Also today, I decided that in preparation for my trip, it was necessary to accessorize my new camera bag. My craze over Suffolk Puffs lead me to making a couple out of my most prized fabric and attaching them as pins! Have a look see:
For anyone who's wondering, the bag is the Sidekick Canvas Bag from Lomography.com. If any of you are interested in buying it, I'd go with the Sidekick Canvas Lite Bag simply because this one is enormous.
Regarding the puffs, I absolutely adore the fabrics I used. I had been saving them for something special, namely a softie I was dreaming up, but I think these pins turned out nicely.
I like this combination of the two patterns better than the colder colours, partially because the fabric on the left is my favorite out of all the old quilting scraps I have lying around. The lighting really doesn't do it justice, its gorgeous in person! I do like the design of the brown and
blue fabric on the left though, it reminds me very much of Vera Bradly stuff (this is not exactly a good thing, mind you) but I still like the colour combination.
I think one of the most helpful Suffolk Puff (or Yo-Yo) tutorials is here on Whipup.net. Its very straightforward and the pictures are very helpful.
Well, try not to miss me too too much while I'm away! Hopefully when I return, I'll have a ton of lovely shots from my Diana and my laptop will be repaired! Fingers crossed!

Holiday Catastrophe
You wont believe how my Boxing Day went.
Woke up around 8:30 or so (an early day for me, hah!), got some Captain Crunch cereal and settle down in front of the TV with my laptop.
My cereal then proceeded to explode all over my laptop. Obviously I freaked out and spent about an hour trying to dry it with a hair dryer, but it just wouldnt start. Luckily, the computer technicians can take a look at it on monday, and my school computer still works, so here we are.
But still! My precious red lappy! So young! So full of life!
Anyway, I got my first roll from my Diana back! Thing is, my scanner drivers are on my other computer, so i can't scan them in for you yet. (Unless I somehow manage to find the drivers CD and load it on my school computer, in that case, disregard the prior statement).
So yep, a lovely way to spend Boxing Day.
On the upside, I did have a spectacular riding lesson with Dos.
Good stuff.

Merry and Bright
Well, since you're here, I guess I've got to start talking right? So this is the first blog I'm actually planning on comitting myself to, seeing as I'm already into college and have nothing better to do (school doesn't count), sounds exciting right?
Today also happens to be Christmas (or more like 12:01 on December 26th, so its technically not, but we'll ignore this), practically the greatest day ever invented. Ever. Its pretty much the perfect day for anything and everything, including starting a blog, so, by powers of deduction, here we are.
I've also been accumulating quite a backlog of artsy things over the past few weeks (one of them being the lovely shot of some paperwhites to your left) and I feel compelled to share them with the crafting community at large. Excited yet?
Reason number 3 regards the fact that I got a Diana F+ camera for Christmas today, and that I'm absolutely sure I'm going to feel compelled to share my snapshots with practically anyone who will look at them. First roll is being developed tomorrow, despite the fact that at least 6 of the pictures will be black because I kept forgetting to take the lens cap off....I've got to get used to analog again! (Don't judge, I like to consider myself a master of technology, and moving back to film cameras is a struggle if anything! I guess I just missed that generation/last 200 years).
Needless to say, I'm a pretty excited person at the moment! Pictures of the rest of the Christmas gifts will be coming tomorrow...or whenever the light is good enough to take some decent pictures.
Most of my posts wont be as long as this one, seeing as I admire the stuff by Pants and Vintage Violet that pretty much consists of oodles of pictures and a few sentences. Good stuff right there.
So YAY for the first functioning blog ever! Prepare yourselves for some crafty, artsy, blurg-tastic commentary, pictures and romantic ponderings of a student, equestrian and slacking overachiever.
